Months after the tragic and brutal death of Jesse Baird, his Network 10 colleagues and friends open up about their experience.

Sunday 19th of May, 2024, marks 3 months since the death of Jesse Baird and his partner Luke Davies. The couple were murdered by former police officer Beaumont Lamarre-Condon in Paddington, Sydney, in February.

When the news broke, the Channel 10 team were in shambles.

“It was quite numbing to hear the details in the news room and quite a surreal experience… Jesse was a big part of Channel 10” stated Daniel Doody, former colleague and friend of Baird.

Losing a friend and a colleague is one thing, but having to report on and investigate the death for your job is another. Baird worked at Network 10 as a TV Presenter alongside other journalists and presenters.

Lauren Ivory, a News Producer at Network 10, stated “I went home that day feeling just completely emotionally exhausted and in shock for the whole time… I couldn’t really process what the reality of the situation was.”

Ivory explained that not only were herself and her colleagues grieving but they were tasked with the impossible job of reporting on a friend’s death.

“That’s not normal for any other workplace.” Ivory stated

Doody, who was close to Baird, spoke at his funeral where he delivered a eulogy. Doody has continuously shared memories of the two together to his social media, along with other colleagues and friends of Baird.

“He was loved by so many and will still be loved forever.” Doody stated.
